The iChing

iChing is an oracle and his name says “book of changes”, it is also a masterpiece of humana philosophy which has its roots in the year 1200 b.C., its origin is the Taoism, even though lateron it has been adopted by Confucio as one of his clasical five books.

We are often facing the difficulty that exists to find an advice of a wise man which will lead us to the understanding and reflection adequate to our behaviour in the present. "Why not give it a try to an old book which is said to be a conscious being" (Carl Jung, Foreword in The I Ching or Book of Changes)

This book is a tool which has survived in the time and represents the thousand-year-old knowledge of two of the greatest philosophic and spiritual authorities of the chinese cultur: Confucio and Lao Tse.

This book must not be considered to be another artwork using clairvoyant powers, principally due to it’s character as a book of philosophy and due to it’s text it allows to go much deeper because it adds the moral principal that should exist in the conduct f the individual that aspires nobility.

The iChing does not predict the future, but deduces and pulls out conclusions. Based on the principie of change, when the iChing responds to our questions, it just tells us about the most recomendable and appropiate way of acting for us in our actual situation. iChing was born to exist for the one who reads and consults it, a guide, a solucion to his doubts and and an essential tool.

Elegant, Simple, Soothing

If you are already familiar with using the I Ching as an oracle, you will find this simple app easy to use and very well designed. The graphics are lovely, and the interface includes a soothing track of Chinese-style solo flute music, which can be muted. The instructions are very basic: ask your question and toss the three coins by pressing a button six times. The hexagram is revealed and any changing lines are shown. You are given a very simple reading which you interpret according to your understanding of the I Ching. There is also a complete listing of the 64 hexagrams with abbreviated text for each. I would recommend this for someone who is already familiar with the Book of Changes and wishes a portable oracle that they can consult easily at any time. Or just listen to the beautiful music to soothe your soul! Definitely worth the price.
